The Road to Skye -: via a recharge in Edinburgh

The problem with road trips is that we tend to pack in a lot to see and do, meaning by the end of the journey you end up needing a holiday from your holiday! I wanted to break that habit because j have been guilty of it and make sure that we rested in Edinburgh before the next leg of our trip. I spent a lot of time in our hotel room reading A Promised Land by Barak Obama (it’s excellent) and updating you guys on our trip (see previous posts )

Although I wanted to do very little exploring, it didn't mean that I would offer room service 😅 .

I’m always looking for an engaging culinary experience, especially when we go to a new city. It’s so easy to go to restaurants we are used to at home, but really where is the fun in that! I booked us in to Noto, a cosy restaurant focusing on small sharing plates and delicious food. From our first plate to the last, I was highly impressed by the quality of the food, and the drinks complimented it all very well. If you happen to live in Edinburgh or are visiting soon, please go here! (Sorry no pictures of the food 🙈)

We also did go up to Arthur’s seat. It sort of feels like a must-do when you come to Edinburgh, and since we’ve been climbing hills, we couldn’t then overlook this one. It turned out to be much less intimidating than it looked, and we were able to get up and down in an hour, including stops. When you see children walking down, you realise that it’s doable.

We would have done more in Edinburgh, but I was desperate to get back on the road and continue our adventure. I’m finding as I travel more and more, cities, where I can quickly get to by plane or by train, don’t excite me that much. It’s those fantastic rugged views that I am most interested in. Lucky for me, that was coming right up.
